Winfred Miller

Winfred John Winnie Miller, the son of Gustav and Kate (Rupp) Miller was born on October 5, 1912, at Butterfield, MN. He graduated from the Butterfield High School in 1930, and he worked with his father and brothers at the Miller Store in Butterfield. Following their father's retirement, Winnie, along with his two brothers, operated the general store and locker plant from 1931 to 1968, and the dry goods only until 1975 when they retired. He was active in snowmobiling, baseball and softball, andhe enjoyed following the Twins and Vikings. Winnie spent his spare time fishing, hunting and traveling. He supported many projects in and around Butterfield including a scholarship fund, the library and many youth activities. He was a charter member of the Butterfield Threshermans Association and served as treasurer for many years. He was also interested in developing and improving Butterfield Lake. Winfred Winnie Miller, age 92, of Butterfield, MN, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, MN. Winnie is survived by many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harry Miller and Oliver Miller.
