Wilma Kissner

Wilma Kissner, aged 92, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 1:30 a.m. at Valley View Manor in Lamberton MN where she was a resident since April 2008. She was born to William B. and Emma (Paulson) Purrington on April 11, 1918 in Windom MN. She graduated from Windom High School and continued on as school secretary until her marriage to Robert B. Kissner on September 21, 1940. Wilma and Robert farmed five miles north of Jeffers MN until their retirement to Jeffers in 1983. They were members of the Germantown EUB Methodist Church and later at the Methodist church at Jeffers MN. Wilma was an avid gardener and quilter. She made a dozen quilts for charity in her later years. She loved to sew, and knitted slippers for her whole family. She said her happiest years were of those of taking care of her grandchildren. Wilma is survived by her children: Julie, Duane, Carol and Jerry; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Dorothy Carlblom and Doris Bakalyar, both of Windom, and one sister-in-law, Viola Rief, of Bismarck ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kissner who died in 2008 and their daughter, Diane, who died in 1943; and three brothers, Lowell, Wilburt and William Purrington. To honor the wishes of Wilma a family-only service will be held graveside on December 5 at the Lamberton Cemetery.
