Wilma Jungas

December 18, 1911 — March 24, 2009

Wilma Aganetha Fast, the daughter of Herman B. and Anna (Warkentin) Fast was born on December 18, 1911 at Mountain Lake, MN. Following her graduation from the Mountain Lake High School, Wilma continued her education at Mankato Teachers College and earned her teaching certification. She taught in country schools in Watonwan and Cottonwood County. On July 6, 1930 Wilma was baptized upon confession of her faith and received as a member of Bethel Mennonite Church. On August 31, 1939 Wilma was united in marriage to Sam M. Harder at her parents' farm. They made their home and farmed together on the Fast family farm until moving in to Mountain Lake in 1978. Sam died on September 18, 1980. On January 12, 1985, Wilma was united in marriage to John P. Jungas at the Bethel Mennonite Church, and they continued to make their home in Mountain Lake. John died on February 2, 2002. Wilma was a lifelong and active member of her church, where she sang in choir and small groups, served as a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of Children's Education and as a member of Worship and Sew. She was a member of the Tuesday Study Club, enjoyed music, observing the flora and fauna, the seasons of the year and checking the weather by observing the cloud formations, reading, keeping abreast of current events, daily devotions, and daily journaling. Wilma loved to travel, and enjoyed trips to Europe and Israel, golf and fishing in northern Minnesota, and winter vacations in Arizona and Florida. Wilma died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Sam M. Harder and John P. Jungas; sister, Bertha Harder, sister and brother-in-law, Alma (Philip) Young, and a sister-in-law, Doris Fast. She is survived by 2 sons, Bruce (Kathleen) Harder of Portland, OR and Kent (Sharon) Harder of Eden Prairie, MN ; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Ralph) Shuping of Portland, Curtis (Natalie) Harder of Minneapolis, MN, Cullen (Stacy) Harder of Eden Prairie, Christopher (Melinda) Harder of Durham, NC; 6 great granddaughters; 3 Jungas children, Barbara (Lee) Loewen of Mountain Lake, Lois (James) Marston of Hugo, MN, and Jack (Becky) Jungas of Mountain Lake, 10 Jungas grandchildren, 25 Jungas great grandchildren; a sister, Marie (Gaylord) Wall of Avon CT; a brother, Herman (Odette) Fast of Fairmont, MN; many other relatives and friends.
