Wilma Becker

November 28, 1948 — April 21, 2013

On February 14, 1923, Wilma Violet was born in Milford, Nebraska to Lloyd and Emma (Kennel) Troyer. As a young woman, she worked as an aide in a hospital. On November 28, 1948 she married Paul Arthur Becker in Wellman, Iowa. They moved to Mountain Lake and were blessed with five children. Wilma was employed for many years at Toro. She also worked at Tony Downs, Mid-Tech, and at the age of 76, she retired from the Good Samaritan Village. She enjoyed gardening, especially vegetables, many of which she canned. She was an accomplished cook who always made extra. She was especially known for her fried chicken gravy and cole slaw. She doted on her grandchildren and couldn't resist the bargains at garage sales. Wilma Becker is survived by her children: Ron (Elaine) Becker, Mt. Lake, Dennis (Darla) Becker, Blaine, Dwight Whitey (Wendy) Becker, Mt. Lake, Renee (Ron) Schroeder, Butterfield, and Deb (Jim) Johnson, Mt. Lake, sisters: Nettie Fehlberg, Goshen, IN, Verda and Alta Troyer, and Della Yoder, all of Kalona, IA, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings: Ida Kliewer, Wilber Troyer, Lloyd Troyer, Jr. and, as children: Warren and Ivan Troyer.
