William Schneider

William Billy Schneider, Jr. died on June 18, 2013 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center where he was a resident since the spring of 2009. William L. Billy Schneider, Jr. was born on March 22, 1932 to William, Sr. and Hattie (Smit) Schneider. He was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth Township, living on the family farm that was built by his grandparents, Charles and Elsie (Kleinow) Schneider. Billy's grandparents were one of the earliest to settle in Leavenworth Township. His grandparents befriended the Indians, were told to leave their farm and move to New Ulm where it would be safe until after the Indian uprising. The farm was kept safe by the Indians until the Schneider family returned. Billy loved his solitary life on his farm. He also enjoyed the wildlife, his cats, his cattle, target shooting and visits.
