William Preuss

William Jakob Preuss was born March 22, 1909, on the family farm in Waterbury Township, Redwood County, the son of Jakob and Rosine (Berroth) Preuss. He was united in marriage to Anna Arends on May 23, 1937, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. William lived his entire life on the family farm until entering Valley View Manor on December 27, 2005. He was a former member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and served as secretary of the Church Board and on the Board of Education. William was also a former member of Revere Lutheran Church and served on the Church Board until its closing. He then became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnsonville Township. William enjoyed farming, gardening and reading. William Jakob Preuss died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at Valley View Manor at the age of 96 years. Survivors include daughters- Joann and husband Kenneth Netzke of Lamberton, and Karen and husband Dennis Stoeckman of Olivia; son- Leland Preuss of Lamberton; 8 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife- Anna in 1998; brothers- Alfred, John in infancy, and Heinrich in infancy; sisters- Kate Mennenga, Barbara Foesch, Mary Kratzke, Ella Lange, Rose Raduenz, and Anna Preuss.
