William "Bill" Mcnamara

William "Bill" Ralph McNamara died Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 68. William "Bill" Ralph McNamara was born on June 5, 1953, to Ralph and Ruth (Reynolds Nelson) McNamara in Mankato, MN. He was raised on the family farm south of Madelia. Bill attended St. Mary's Catholic School as well as Madelia and New Ulm High Schools and later attained his GED. He was a skillful painter and a jack of all trades which led him to various jobs in the area including working with many area farmers. Bill's last employment was at Minnesota State University in Mankato in the Maintenance Department which ended in 2006 due to his failing health. He enjoyed life outdoors especially hunting, fishing, raising his horse, motorcycle riding, and snowmobiling. Bill also enjoyed spending time with family and working on vehicles. He was known for his independent spirit. He is survived by his life partner Shirley Weimern of Mankato; daughter Mindy McNamara of Rochester; grandchildren - Kade (Tami), Sage, and Laney McNamara; Shirley's children - Angie, Krissy, Bobby Jo, and Dana; siblings - Thomas (Ruth) McNamara of Mankato, Susan (Jim) Bruss of Hanska, and Margaret Tebben of Willmar; and many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of their Uncle Bill. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister Mary Ann Josephine; sisters Louise (Jim) Lawrence and Michaella McNamara; and brother Patrick McNamara.
