Willard Peter Juenemann was born January 2, 1922, in North Star Township, Brown County, the son of Oscar and Barbara (Hillesheim) Juenemann. He served with the U.S. Army from October 20, 1942, until November 11, 1945 during World War II, spending most of his tour in Italy. Following the war, Willard returned to the area to farm and especially enjoyed farming with horses. He also loved gardening and you would never find a weed in his garden. If Willard found a weed, he would pull it and put it in his back pocket. He loved it when his nieces and nephews came to visit and he would take them out to the pasture with him to get the cows. Willard always had a stick for each of them to help with the herding. Faith, family and country were Willard's cornerstones in his life. He was a kind, loving man and will be sadly missed by all. Willard Juenemann died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center at the age of 88 years. He is survived by sisters- Rosemary Ochs and Marilyn King; sister-in-law Phyllis Juenemann; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Delbert, Gerald, Jerome, and Ralph; and sisters- Irene Groebner, and Delores Platz.
