Wilbert John Wischstadt was born on October 23, 1927 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the son of Gustave Alma (Pehling) Wischstadt. Wilbert attended school at District 18 country school in Brown County through sixth grade and finished eighth grade at St. John's Lutheran School in Sleepy Eye. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in 1943. After completing school, he farmed with his father and took over the farm when his father died in 1949. Wilbert married Beverly Carnes on September 28, 1952 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. He farmed for over 64 years and had the pleasure of seeing his farm recognized as a Century Farm for 100 years of continuous family operation. Wilbert was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing, including ice fishing and spearing. He also loved traveling out West when buying cattle. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, daughter, Kathy, sister, Luella, grandsons, William, Chad, Jacob and Justin. He is also survived by nieces, Louise and Marlene and nephews, Paul and Tom. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David and sister, Frieda.
