Wilbert Rogotzke

Wilbert Arnold Henry Rogotzke was born on August 7, 1917 in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, the son of Henry and Helena (Voge) Rogotzke. Wilbert attended parochial and public schools in Sanborn. He was baptized and confirmed in English and German at the Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn where he was a lifelong member. On November 24, 1939 he was united in marriage to Orpha Piper. The couple lived and farmed in Germantown Township from 1939 until moving into Sanborn in 1975. Wilbert painted buildings, was an Asgrow Seed corn dealer, and worked at the fertilizer plant in Sanborn and Lamberton. Wilbert served on the Zion Lutheran Church Board and Cemetery Board. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, following the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Gophers. Wilbert died on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his sons - Gene and wife Sandy Rogotzke of Wabasso and Garrey and wife Karin of Shakopee; a daughter - Jackie and husband Rich Schiller of Hutchinson; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife - Orpha in August of 2006; brothers - Ervin and Albert; and sisters - Elsie Lehne, Ruth Schwartz, Lydia Rogotzke, and Margaret Rogotzke.
