Wesley Werner

Wesley Werner was born September 2, 1909, in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, the son of Charles and Alma (Krueger) Werner. He was united in marriage to Fannie Junker on June 3, 1931, in Cottonwood County. Wesley and Fannie farmed almost their entire lives in Germantown Township until moving to Lamberton in 1993. He became a resident of Valley View Manor in 1998, and later moved to St. John Lutheran Home in February of 2008. Wesley was a member of the Germantown EUB Church until its merger with the Lamberton United Methodist Church in 1968, at which time he became a member of the UMC. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, his Sunday drives around the area, and walking. Wesley also enjoyed mowing grass, growing trees on his farm, watching the elephants put up the circus tents, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Wesley Werner died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 98 years. Survivors include son Kenneth and wife Pat of Siloam Springs, AR; daughter Bernie Samletzka of Braham, MN; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great,great-grandchildren; and sister Ora Burginger of Story City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Fannie in 2001; and brother Lloyd.
