Wayne Ellis Green

Wayne Ellis Green was born April 15, 1927 in Selma Township, Cottonwood County, MN to Winfield and Gladys (Nichols) Green. He grew up on a farm and attended country school through 8th grade and then Mt. Lake High School, graduating in 1944. Wayne worked on the family farm for two years. He then attended Dunwoody Institute for one winter. Returning home he worked for Herbert Hoek. From 1949 to 1951, Wayne built a small house on the family farm. On August 24, 1951, Wayne married Margaret June Wille at Mt. Lake Alliance Church. They lived on the family farm until 1956 when they moved to a farm in Adrian Township in Watonwan County. Wayne worked for Moore Manufacturing and Toro for several of years until they started a dairy farm. They operated a dairy farm for over 30 years. Wayne and Margaret were blessed with four boys. A tornado destroyed their dairy barn in 1963. In the following years, they built a new barn, silos, a new house, machine shed and other buildings.. They retired from dairying in April of 1994. They continued farming until Wayne retired. He enjoyed farming, welding and woodworking. Wayne served on the Butterfield-Odin School Board, Tri-Country Co-op Board and served as an usher at Mt. Lake Alliance Church for 60+ years. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Green of Butterfield, children, Larry (Cindy) Green of Butterfield, Ron (Terri) Green of Las Vegas, NV, Randy (Sharon) Green of Little Canada, MN, Merlin (Robin) Green of San Diego, CA, 4 grandchildren, Scott (Brittany) Green of St. Paul, MN, Stephanie Green of Minneapolis, MN, Kayley Green and Jamie Green both of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by his sister, Glennys McDonald of Texas, brother, Robert (Muriel) Green of Los Angeles, CA, sister-in-law, Darlene Green of Mt. Lake and brother-in-law, Alvin (Ardyce) Schmidt of St. James. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Loren, sister, Dorothy Schmidt and brother-in-law, Bob McDonald.
