Walter "Sonny" William Wiese was born on October 17, 1926 to Walter and Emma (Matzke) Wiese in Springfield, MN. Sonny attended school in Dotson and graduated from Springfield High School. He was drafted into the US Army from March 1945 to August 1946 and served in Japan. On February 10, 1948, Walter was united in marriage to Marion Stark in Comfrey, MN. The couple lived in Comfrey where Sonny worked with his father at the Minneapolis Moline dealership. They obtained the Chevrolet dealership which was known as Wiese Chevrolet. Sonny was proud to sell the Chevrolet brand for 52 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the American Legion. Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. Walter died on Friday, October 4, 2019, at Gil Mor Manor in Morgan at the age of 92. He is survived by his daughters - Bonnie (Charles) Schleif of Comfrey and Mary Beth (Dale) Mathiowetz of Grand Chute, WI; grandchildren - Jason Schleif (special friend Jamie Olson), Nathan Schleif, Nicholas Schleif, Christa (Heath) Krick, Kate (Brandon) Bretl, Josh (Tiffany) Mathiowetz, and Megan Mathiowetz (special friend Joe Dubovik); and 6 great grandchildren. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marion, sister Lucille U'Ren, and great grandchild Cameron Bretl.
