Visitation will be on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey, MN. Due to Covid 19, visitation will be a "walk through" visitation to avoid congregating or gathering inside the building. All who attend are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing guidelines. Service will be held at the St. Paul's Catholic Church on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Walter Carl Evers was born March 18, 1933 in Cottonwood County to Harm and Bena (Stadtlander) Evers. He grew up working on his family farm in the Comfrey area. Walter then met the love of his life and married Marie Suess on May 10, 1955 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey. Together they raised 6 children. Walter continued to farm the Comfrey area until he purchased the Skelly Station in 1963-1991. In 1991 Walt switched careers and became a custodian for the Comfrey School where he retired in 2003. After retirement his love for farming continued and he helped with the fall beet harvest. Walt and his wife Marie enjoyed spending their time together camping, fishing, dancing, and traveling during their 65 years together. Outside of fishing, Walt would be woodworking in his shop and creating new projects. Later in life Walt found joy in his 4 great granddaughters. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey. Walter passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at the age of 87. Walter's life will be forever cherished in the lives of his wife Marie; and of his children - Michael Evers (Chris Amsden) of Comfrey, Beverly (Howard) McCabe of Madelia, Linda (Joel) Schiller of Comfrey, Allen (Joan) Evers of Windom, Bradley Evers (Amy Stedman) of Sanborn, Lori (Greg) Krantz of Annandale; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and siblings - David (Sharon) Evers of Jeffers, Richard (Susan) Evers of Comfrey, Irene Zimmerman of Comfrey, and Clara Schenk of Butterfield.
