Vivian Bernice Monsen

Vivian Bernice Hammond was born to Floyd and Clara (Madson) Hammond on August 14, 1920 in Madelia, MN. She attended School District 47 and Madelia High School, graduating in 1939. During WWII she worked at OPA rationing board. Vivian married Norman Monsen on December 27, 1944. She worked for the St. James Plaindealer for 8 years. Vivian and Norman farmed in St. James and enjoyed spending their winters together in Arizona. Vivian B. Monsen, age 96, of Saint James, Minnesota died on June 15, 2017, at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, Minnesota. Vivian will be greatly missed by daughter Norma (Gary) Miest and son Wayne (Karen) Monsen; grandchildren Ryan (Miranda) Miest, Tanner (Rachel) Miest, Trista Miest, Jonathan (Jenny) Monsen, Lisa (Jeff) Boman; great grandchildren Julien, Davis, and namesake Vivian Miest, and Josie Monsen; sister Ettie Palmer; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband; parents; sisters, Florence Woese, Mildred Lemke, Maurine Hage, and brother Wayne Hammond.
