Virjene Joblinske

June 22, 1929 — October 12, 2014

Virjene Audrey Bakke was born June 22, 1929, in St. James, the daughter of Albert and Magnhild (Wiberg) Bakke. She grew up in the St. James area, graduated from St. James High School in 1947, as class Valedictorian, she received her teaching degree from Mankato Teachers College in 1950. She then began teaching in country schools. On June 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to Roland Tiny Joblinske. The couple made their home in Lewisville for a time before moving to St. James. Virjene continued teaching, she taught 4 years in country school and finished her teaching career with 4 years of kindergarten at St. Paul's Lutheran School in St. James. Virjene enjoyed teaching Sunday school, Bible school, attending Mission Action workshops and church bazaars. She also liked baking, canning, sewing, crafting, and making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She and Tiny enjoyed taking bus tour trips. She loved to play the piano and listen to piano music. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl Joblinske of New Ulm, Marcia Metli of St. James, brother Wayne (Beverly) Bakke of St. James, sister Marilyn Hudson of New Ulm, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law Randall Metli, several aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law sisters-in-law, 2 nieces and a nephew.
