Virginia L. Yetter was born March 27, 1918, in Monongahela, PA, the daughter of Luke and Bertha (Woodward) Leeper. She graduated from Monongahela High School in 1936 and attended Nurses Training School at Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Virginia enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in December of 1942 and served in the European Theater until her honorable discharge in December of 1945. She was united in marriage to Thomas A. Yetter on March 27, 1946 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Virginia worked as a Registered Nurse at the Sleepy Eye Hospital for 22 years, then worked for 11 years at the Springfield Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, Mary Martha Circle, John Watson American Legion Post #257, and the Sleepy Eye VFW. Virginia enjoyed knitting, walking, traveling, her church circle and bible study and being a grandma to all the neighborhood kids. She also loved spending time with friends and family, her dog Cindy, and caring for people, especially her best friend Stella Prechel. Virgina Yetter died Friday, November 11, 2005, at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 87 years. Survivors include son- Dr. John and wife Barbara Yetter of Berkley, MO; grandchildren- Stephanie and husband Josh Guerriero, Lisa Yetter, Bryce Yetter and Dylan Yetter; great grandchildren- Chloe Yetter, Anthony Yetter, Morgan Guerriero, Hailey Wester, Josh Guerriero, Jr., Olivia Guerriero and Madison Guerriero; and sister- Ruth Baxter of Monogahela, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Thomas in 1990; and brothers- Joseph and Kenneth Leeper.
