Virginia Jeckell

April 7, 1916 — April 12, 2005

Virginia Cora Jeckell was born April 7, 1916, in Lamberton Township, Redwood County, Minnesota, the daughter of Paul and Caroline (Fering) Iverson. She was united in marriage to Albert Jeckell on March 12, 1940, in Lamberton Township. Following marriage, the couple continued to farm southeast of Lamberton. Virginia lived her entire life in Lamberton Township before moving into town in 1996. She was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church, and then a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the WELCA. Virginia was also a member of the Lamberton American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, raising flowers and baking. She also enjoyed finding wild flowers, bird watching, photography, family history, helping others and spending time with family and friends. Virginia Cora Jeckell died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Redwood Area Hospital at the age of 89 years. Survivors include children- Carol and husband Ray, Jr. Arkell of Lamberton, Elmer and wife Rozalyn Jeckell of Lamberton, and Donna and husband Allen Zollner of Wabasso; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law- Gertie Iverson of Lamberton and Edith Bunde of Dow City, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband- Albert in 1977; granddaughter- Julie Ann in 1972; brothers- Clarence in 1960 and Art in 1979; and sisters- Lillian Iverson in 2002 and Evelyn Berg Dugas in 2003.
