Virginia Evans

Virginia Evans age 88, of Madelia, MN died on September 23, 2024, at Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia.

A private interment will take place at a later date.

Virginia S. (Richie, Vandrey) Evans was born to Angelo and Philomena Richie on June 22, 1936 in Hudson, WI.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Vickie (Bruce) Evans of Menomonie, WI, and Phyllis Schickling of Madelia, MN; sisters, Violet Padilla, and Ann (Mike) Batson; grandchildren, Adam (Lisa) Breitbarth, Andy

(Stacey) Evans, Heather (Michael) Russ Bliesmer, Rachel Schickling, Tiffany (David) Schickling Nichols; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Elliana, Finn, Barrett, and Addison; brother-in-law, Orlo (Carol) Evans,

sisters-in-law, Jenette (Merle) Williams, Karen Evans, Carol Richie; along with many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by parents, Angelo and Philomena Richie; husband, Ron Evans; son, William "Bill" Vandrey; son-in-law, Larry Schickling; brother, Paul Richie; sisters, Carmella Giersdorf and Marie

Bridwell, and great-grandson, Mitchell Breitbarth.

Virginia married Victor Vandrey in 1955, together they had 3 children. In 1974 Virginia remarried to Ronald Evans of Waseca, MN. Together they moved to Nisswa, MN in 1977 and spent many happy years

on East Twin Lake until Ron’s passing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, needle working, and playing cribbage with her friends. Virginia was always “game” for a trip to the casino. She was an active member of Eagles Club for over 60 years in Mankato and Brainerd. Virginia worked at Walmart in Baxter, MN for over 30 years.

Virginia beamed with pride about her Italian roots and cherished the fact that she was a first-generation American.
