Virgil Sackett

Virgil Harold Sackett was born April 10, 1920 in Sanborn, the son of Fred and Ann (Winter) Sackett. On October 15, 1942 in Springfield, MN he was united in marriage to Amy Halvorson. The couple moved to Lamberton in 1947 where he operated a used machinery business, retiring in 1986. Virgil was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, fishing, and wintering in Las Vegas. Virgil died on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his wife - Amy Sackett of Lamberton; children - Robert and wife Karen Sackett of Auguta, GA, Barb and husband Jerry Scharpe of Glencoe, MN, Jerry and wife Kathy Sackett of Worthington, MN, and Roger Sackett of Lamberton, MN; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister - Elaine and husband Russell Mahaffey of Osage, IA, and a sister-in-law - Mary Ann Sackett of Brainerd, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother - Virgin Pat Sackett and a brother - Lowell and wife Lavonne Sackett.
