Violet Schlomann

Vi Schlomann passed away on Friday at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Violet Leone Mohlenbrock was born in Mt. Lake, MN, on February 3, 1922, one of ten children of George Louise (Marienau) Mohlenbrock. Vi grew up in rural Mt. Lake she was Baptized and Confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Lake. She attended rural school. On November 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to Donald Frank Clare in Mt. Lake. The couple made their home in St. James where Don Vi where involved in Clare Brother's Trucking. Following Don's tragic death in June 1949 Vi went to work at Holte Grocery. On August 30, 1953 Vi was united in marriage to Edwin Schlomann they farmed in the Sleepy Eye area before moving to Truman and then to St. James in 1964. Vi went to work at Schmidt's Bakery and worked there until she was 75 years old. Vi loved cooking and baking, playing cards, gardening and was an avid sewer, she also did embroidery and other hand work. She was a member of St. Paul's Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aide and worked with the church newsletter. Vi loved spending time with her grandchildren when they would come and visit. Violet was preceded in death by both of her husbands, parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, two sons-in-law Larry Kyar and Gene Pearce. She is survived by her daughters Sharon Pearce of Canyon City, OR, Mary (Lyle) Anderson of Butterfield, Sandie (Mark) Oldenburg of Butterfield, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters Ethel Harder of Colorado Springs, CO, Clara Johnson of Windom, Norma Smith of Willmar, numerous nieces and nephews.
