Viola Fischer

Viola Elizabeth Fischer was born on September 19, 1924 to John and Bertha (Eckstein) Fischer on the farm in rural Sleepy Eye, MN. She attended country school in Albin Township and later New Ulm. Viola worked for the Haas family at their home and Haas Bakery. She married Elmer A. Fischer on April 12, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Viola and Elmer lived and farmed their entire lives in Stark Township on Elmer's family's home farm. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, canning and helping on the farm. She is survived by her children, Elmer Fischer, Jr. of New Ulm, Sharline Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Carolyn (Gordon) Fromm of Springfield, Junelle Hauth of New Ulm, daughter-in-law, Marilyn Fischer of New Ulm, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and brother, Robert Fischer of Hanska. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer in 1987, son, Tom in 2013, daughter, Gloria in 1976, son-in-law, Marvin Hauth and siblings, John Fischer, Walter Fischer, Wallace Fischer and Laverna Tauer.
