Victor was born November 3, 1930 to Carl and Mathilda (Rathke) Mausling Sr. on the farm in South Branch. He helped his father on the farm before joining the US Army. After his honorable discharge on April 27, 1962, he became a master plumber. He worked for Latimer James Plumbing Co. in St. James for some time. In the '70s, he was a foreman for Balzer's Manufacturing. He then worked for Pankratz Con-fed Inc. doing everything from welding to maintenance. Although he officially retired in the mid '90s, he mowed at the Golf Course. But through it all, Vic loved farming and did fieldwork for neighbors throughout his various occupations. On February 16, 1952, Victor married Elaine Schuknecht at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where he was a member. They were blessed with three daughters. Vic was an exceptionally devoted husband. In their earlier years he enjoyed dancing and playing pool. He was a very active member of VFW Post 9607 in Butterfield. He helped cook pork for VFW fundraisers and served in its color guard and participated in many parades. He enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several clubs with neighbors. Vic also belonged to various bowling leagues in Windom, sometimes serving as captain. He was fond of going to his grandchildren's sporting events and enjoyed late night movies, especially Westerns.
