Victor Gentz

Victor Gentz was born on September 26, 1917, in Bashaw Township, the son of William and Bertha (Krueger) Gentz. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Navy from January 11, 1944 until his honorable discharge in April 1, 1946. He was united in marriage to Lois Veenstra at the Methodist Church in Mankato on March 1, 1949. Victor worked for Steenhoven Implement, the meat locker, and the Public Utilities. He was a member of the Springfield Legion and the United Methodist Church in Springfield. Victor enjoyed fishing, gardening, socializing, traveling, playing Harmonica, being outdoors, and as a younger man - roller skating. Victor died on Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 96 years. He is survived by his children - Larry (Catherine) Gentz of Conifer, CO, Kay (Charles) Padilla of Rochester, MN, Mary (Craig) Lindemann of New Ulm, MN, and Vicki (Lance) Bolton of Hudson, WI; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren; a brother - Bill (Kayla) Gentz of Sleepy Eye, MN; and a sister - Betty Fennern of Redwood Falls, MN.
