Vernon Frank "Jim" Schultz was born December 2, 1926 to Frank A. and Ruth (McCarthy) Schultz in Madelia, MN. He was raised in Henderson, MN and graduated high school in 1944. He attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry in 1952. Jim married Loraine E. Kroehler on June 28, 1952 and moved to Madelia. They raised their family and farmed until retirement. Jim loved the work of a farmer; supervising his boy's farming gave him much joy in the later years of his life. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Madelia for over 50 years; where he was an elder, trustee, treasurer and choir member. He served for 20 years on the Watonwan County Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Ag Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 69 years, the Madelia Shipping Association and the Boy Scouts of America. Jim received the Order of the Arrow, rank of Eagle Scout and also became a Scout Master. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing; coffee and shaking dice with the "guys" at the Triangle and Madelia Lanes; playing and watching sports, especially his children and grandchildren. Vernon Frank "Jim" Schultz age 92, of Madelia, MN died peacefully with his family by his side on May 11, 2019, at Living Meadows at Luther, Madelia. Jim is survived by his children, Peggy (Tom) Eller of New Richmond, WI; Thomas (Carolyn) Schultz, Bruce (Lynn) Schultz both of Madelia; 7 grandchildren - Ryan, Cory (Angela), Grant, Jamie, Jordan (Joshua), Kyle, Rachel; 4 great-grandchildren - Kyleigh, Jase, Lucille, Annabelle; sister-in-law, Phyllis Kroehler, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine Schultz; parents; grandparents, and brother, Robert "Bobby" Schultz.
