Verna Emma Lydia Wille was born July 7, 1917, in Redwood County, MN, the daughter of Paul and Constance (Lange) Siedschlag. When Verna was two years old, her father Paul was killed by lightning and her mother later married Paul's brother, August who raised Verna as his own. She attended country schools and a school in Lucan. Verna was united in marriage to Robert Wille on September 8, 1936, in Lucan. The couple made their home on the family farm in Waterbury Township and later purchased their own farm, also in Waterbury Township. They moved to Springfield in 1971, and following Robert's death in 2001, Verna moved to Johnson Park Place in Redwood Falls. Verna thoroughly enjoyed her years in Springfield where she made many dear friends. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield and enjoyed cooking, reading, and being with her family. Verna's favorite past-time was reading and sharing recipes with her family and friends. Verna Wille died Monday, November 26, 2007, at the Redwood Area Hospital at the age of 90 years. Survivors include her children- Lois (Galen) Wetter of Lamberton, Mavis Mathews of Maple Grove, Ruth Ann (Tom) Lange of Idaho Falls, ID, Karen (David) Hacker of Morgan, Arlan (Mary) Wille of Buffalo, Mary (Harlan) Fenger of Lamberton, and Layton Wille of N. Kansas City, MO; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and son-in-law- Merlin (Ilene) Willand. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Robert in 2001; daughter- Mona Rae Willand in 1989; 2 great-grandsons- Dawson Wille and Micah Wetter; sisters- Hilda Wagner and Frieda Giesler; and son-in-law- Gordon Mathews in 2006.
