Verle Thormodson

Verle Thormodson, age 67, of Madelia, MN, died on December 6, 2021, at Madelia Health Hospital. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Faith Lutheran Church-Madelia. A private family service will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church-Madelia, immediately following visitation. The clergy will be Rev. Kelly Heide. Interment will be at the Linden Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hanska, Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia, Minnesota. Verle Ardon Thormodson was born in Madelia, MN to Ardon and Betty (Sorgatz) Thormodson on November 19, 1954. He grew up in Madelia and was a graduate of Madelia High School in 1973. After high school he moved to Minneapolis where he worked for many years at various sheltered workshops. Verle returned to Madelia to be near his family again. He enjoyed spending time gardening flowers and vegetables, drinking coffee and bantering politics with family and friends. He loved to cheer on the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Due to health issues, he was in the excellent care of the Human Services of Watonwan County, REM of Madelia and his caring guardian, Lori Kuehl. Verle's family wishes to send a heart felt thank you to all the staff who cared for him and those at Madelia Health facilities and Mayo Health facilities for all their wonderful work! Verle is survived by his mother, Betty Olson; brother, John (Brenda) Thormodson; niece, Jana Thormodson; nephew, Jason Thormodson; aunt, Jean Rabenhorst, along with many cousins and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Ardon Thormodson and step-father, Myron Olson. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Linden Cemetery Association are preferred.
