Veora Fay 'Deedee' Zuhlke

Veora Fay (DeeDee) Newman was born on August 28, 1933, in Grand Rapids, MN, the daughter of George and Norma (Wilson) Newman. They lived in Grand Rapids until 1940 when they moved to Minneapolis and to Bear River, MN in 1945 and several logging camps until moving to Marshal in 1950. She married Leo Edwards in 1950 and the couple had three children. In 1957, she married Harvey Zulke. DeeDee enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a gray lady at Pleasant View for many years and a member of the VFW auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Shelly (Dean) Johnson of St. James, Michael Edwards of Rhode Island, Lawrence (Brenda) Edwards of Mankato, 10 grandchildren Jeremie Johnson, Colter (Mandie) Johnson, Hailey (Ryan) Liffrig, Braidey Johnson, Travis (Dawn) Edwards, Lance (Karissa) Edwards, April Edwards, Leah Edwards, Heather (Matt) Koenig, Camala Johnson, and 15 great-grandchildren Nikolas Johnson, Kiersten Johnson, Karin Johnson, Ashtyn Edwards, Zander Kump, Annebeil Edwards, Liam Edwards, Evelyn Edwards, Zoe Johnson, Odin Johnson, Rowan Johnson, Berkley Liffrig, Brandon Koenig & Tyler Koenig, 3 sisters, Bernice Cochran of Gilbert, MN, Phyllis Myers of Black River Falls, WI, Gloria Ball of Black River Falls, WI, 3 brothers, Charles (Doc) Newman of Keewattin, MN, Wayne (Kathy) Newman of St. Paul, Bruce (Carol) Newman of Blaine, MN, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Shawn Edwards, brother Walter Newman, brothers-in law Dave Cochran, Walter Myers, Howard Zuhlke, Delbert & Betty Brinkmann.
