Valentine Helget

There will be a parish Rosary at 7pm Thursday at the funeral home. Valentine Albert Helget, 88, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Monday, July 28, 2008 at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Valentine Albert Helget was born on April 14, 1920 in Sigel Township, MN, the son of Edward Lena (Wurzberger) Helget. He lived his entire life on the family farm. On April 27, 1950 he married Veronica Stueber at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Sigel Athletic Association. Val enjoyed farming, especially bailing hay, old tyme music, auctions, playing cards, driving his six wheeler, dancing,watching motorcycle hillclimbs, going to tractor pulls and watching his favorite TV shows, the Price is Right and the Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He also had a special godchild Orville Helget who spent alot of time with him working on tractors and taking him to various events. Val will forever hold a memorable place in the hearts he touched. Survivors include his wife, Veronica Helget of New Ulm, children, Daryl (Lois) Helget of New Ulm, Lynette (Steve) Braun of Sleepy Eye and Linda (Lenny) Neid of Sleepy Eye, six grandchildren, Scott, Kevin Brian Braun, Angie Adam Neid and Holly Helget, and sister, Marilyn Walser of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Theodore Helget, Sr., sisters, Orlean (Arnold) Tragner, Cleophia Helget, brother-in-law, Joseph Walser and sister-in-law, Delores Helget.
