Tillie Ostercamp was born on February 1, 1916, to Samuel and Amanda (Meyers) Ostercamp on a farm five miles northwest of Mountain Lake, MN. She received her education at Country School District 80E, and she graduated from the Mountain Lake High School. On September 11, 1927, Tillie was baptized at the Methodist Church in Windom, MN, by Rev. William G. Babcock. Tillie was united in marriage to Abram P. Janzen on April 2, 1937, at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. They made their home and farmed near Delft, MN, and in 1939 they moved to her home farm, where she remained until moving in to Mountain Lake in 1972. In 1950 Tillie and Abram joined the Bethel Mennonite Church where she remained an active member, taught Nursery Sunday School for 30 years, was a member of Worship and Sew, and help with many other committees and projects. Abram died on April 7, 1964. Tillie worked for many businesses in Mountain Lake, and she did housework and wallpapering for many area families. She enjoyed handwork, baking zweibach, traveling, aiding other people, and seeing the beauty of God's handwork. She was also a member of the Wa-tan-ye Club, the Bird Club, and served as treasurer of Romper Ranch for several years. Tillie died on Monday evening, February 25, 2008 at Wysteria Estates in Rochester, MN. Tillie is survived by two children, a daughter, Cheryl Penner of Rochester, MN, and Gorlyn Janzen and his wife Nancy of Austin, TX; a grandson, Brad Penner and his wife Karen of Dallas, TX; a sister-in-law, Esther Janzen of Mountain Lake; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Todd Penner; four sisters, Marie Derksen Harder, Viola Loewen Nordby, Alice Ostercamp, and Nellie Franz; and two brothers, Harvey and Fred.
