Thomas Allen 'Tom' Julian

Thomas "Tom" Allen Julian, age 69, died on October 22, 2021, at his home in Saint James, Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Tom was born on November 29, 1951, in Marshall, Minnesota. He was raised in Jackson, Minnesota and graduated high school in 1969. In 1972, he graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, where he met his future wife, Jean Janssen. Upon graduating from college, he worked for Dun and Bradstreet in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When his father became ill, he moved back to Jackson, Minnesota, to take over the family business (Julian's Bakery). In 1973, Tom and Jean were married at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. After his father's recovery, he managed Wolf's Department Store in Windom, Minnesota. In 1976, he became a delivery driver for the United Parcel Service (UPS) and in May of 1978, moved to St. James, Minnesota, and continued working for UPS, until 1987. He then went to work at Armour Eckrich/Smithfield Foods, until his retirement in 2016. Tom is survived by his wife, Jean; 4 sons, Jason (Janae) Julian of Malvern, Arkansas; Chad Julian of Mankato, Minnesota; Jeff (Heather) Julian of Mankato, Minnesota; Sean (special friend Haley Sellner) Julian of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, Colin, Cali, and Camden; Tommy and Tia; Kristin, Grace, Isobell, Jack, Charlie and Henry; 3 siblings, Pat Jones of Okoboji, Iowa; Robert (Peggy) of Mankato, Minnesota; Ann (Stuart) Sneer of Mankato, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Jim (Tina) Janssen of Yakima, Washington; sister-in-law, Judy (Gary Longstreet) of Mankato, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Phyllis Julian; in-laws, Wilbur "Ham" and Alice Janssen; brother, Ron Julian; brother-in-law, Don Jones; and nephew, Brian James "BJ" Longstreet. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be held at a later date.
