Theresa Curry

Theresa Mae Curry, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home on September 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Saint James. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Online Condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Theresa was born on October 19, 1938, to George and Theresa (Starkey) Ogle. She grew up in Madelia, where she was baptized and confirmed at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and attended Madelia schools.

On May 25, 1957, Theresa married the love of her life, Duane Curry. Together, they shared 55 years of marriage and built a loving home while raising their four daughters. Theresa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was the greatest joy of her life.

Theresa dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked for many years as a nursing assistant at the hospital. She also worked in the cafeteria at Saint James Public Schools, as a pharmacy technician at Saint James Hospital, and with Watonwan County Adult Foster Care. Her caring spirit continued throughout her life as a hospice volunteer, where she provided comfort, companionship, and kindness to others during difficult times.

Theresa was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Saint James, where she enjoyed the friendships, fellowship, and community she found there.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including reading, knitting, and, perhaps most of all, sitting down for a cup of coffee and good conversation with friends and neighbors. Theresa treasured her friendships and was especially blessed by her special best friend, Irene Wright. Their friendship brought her many years of companionship, laughter, and cherished memories.

Theresa will be remembered for her caring heart, gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She had a gift for making people feel cared for and valued. Whether through her work, volunteer service, friendships, or the everyday ways she cared for those around her. Theresa touched many lives.

Theresa is survived by her four daughters, Georgene (Jerry) Hultgren of Sioux Falls, SD, Wendy (David) Bohm of Osakis, MN, Julie (George) Koenig of Saint James, MN and Lisa (Gail) Curry of Burnsville, MN; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her special best friend, Irene Wright.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Curry; her parents, George and Theresa Ogle; 14 siblings; and in-laws, Sylvester and Gebka Curry.

Theresa leaves behind a beautiful legacy through the family she raised, the people she cared for, the friendships she cherished, and the countless acts of kindness she gave throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Her greatest legacy is the love she gave and the family she leaves behind.
