Thelma Bloemke

June 5, 1909 — January 23, 2007

Thelma Fern Bloemke was born June 5, 1909, in Perry, IA the daughter of Karl D. and Fannie (Herr) Taylor. She moved to Minnesota at the age of 10 and lived on the family farm west of Comfrey. Thelma attended Mankato Teachers College and then taught at country schools for 7 years. She was united in marriage to Robert Bloemke on August 1, 1934, at the Comfrey Congregational Church. Thelma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield and Mary Martha Circle. She was very active in the church choir and all church activities. The couple enjoyed golf, playing cards, visiting, and spending winters in Arizona. Thelma also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Thelma Fern Bloemke died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 97 years. She is survived by children- Barbara and Ken Anderson of St. Louis Park, MN, and Bruce and Bonnie Bloemke of Springfield; grandchildren- Gary and Donna Anderson, Brenda Witt, Ross and Stacey Bloemke, and Kara and Randy Platz; great-grandchildren- Andrea and Sara Witt, Jack, Jake, Tom and Camille Platz, and Kalvin and Kyle Anderson; sister- Marie Cullen of Lamberton; brothers- Robert and Bette Taylor of Mesa, AZ, Kenneth and Carol Taylor of Millersville, PA; brother-in-law- Floyd Kratz of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Robert in 1995, and grandson- Paul.
