Tammy Willaby

Tammy Willaby, age 53 of Mountain Lake, died December 25, 2012 at her home, after fighting cancer since her diagnosis in February, 2012. Memorials can be sent to the Tammy Willaby Memorial Fund at Triumph State Bank of Darfur. Funeral Service is 10:30 AM Sat, Dec 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt Lake, Rev. Peter Kufahl officiating. Visitation is Friday 4-8 PM at Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake and resumes at church, one hour before the funeral. Interment is at Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Tammy Jo was born on June 3, 1959 in Mountain Lake to Kenneth and Marian A. (Kremmin) Fredin. She was baptized on July 15, 1959 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on April 29, 1973. A Class of 1977 graduate of Mountain Lake High School, Tammy also studied at Mankato State College for two years. She worked for various local businesses including: Swift, Land O' Lakes, Jungas Hardware, Darfur Elevator and Sperry (now Univac). On August 15, 1987 Tammy married Douglas Willaby at Trinity Lutheran Church. Tammy was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was highly involved in church activities. She was responsible for the Cradle Roll, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also impacted young lives through volunteering at school. Tammy loved her work in the kitchen, whether it be cooking, baking, or canning. She was also very well known for her knitting skills and made beautiful Christmas stockings for family members. On the farm, you could find Tammy picking rocks with Derrick and Travis, chopping and raking corn stalks, giving rides, running errands and more recently, working on their house addition. She was always willing to drop everything and help whoever needed it. Tammy's was dedicated as a loving wife and mother. She was very hardworking, persistent, and most of all a great friend. She was always supportive toward her family, neighbors, and friends and always helpful to those in need. Tammy is survived by husband, Doug, sons: Derrick and Travis, all of Delton Twp, mother, Marian A. Fredin, Mt. Lake, parents-in-law, Arnold Leona (Schultz) Willaby, Selma Twp, siblings: Trudy Fredin husband Al Trippel, Savage, and Scott Fredin special friend Tomi Reiners, Prior Lake.
