There will be a Parish Prayer service at 6:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Sylvia B. Mangen was born January 16, 1925 in Leavenworth, MN, the daughter of Louis Clara (Eckstein) Augustin. She grew up and attended school in Leavenworth. Sylvia married Bernard Mangen on June 7, 1947 at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. The couple lived and farmed near Sleepy Eye, later moving to Sleepy Eye. Sylvia received her GED and completed a certified nursing assistant program and attended college classes at Mankato State for history. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed quilting, oil painting, gardening, card playing and reading. She is survived by her children, Joan Robertson of Inver Grove Heights, Joseph (Mary) of Sleepy Eye, Silvia (David) Ball of Butte, MT, Glenn of Sleepy Eye, Alice (David) Engelhardt of Roseville, Dennis (Chris) of Fairfax, Neil (Rose) of Sleepy Eye, Doreen (Brad) Dahl of Roseville and Lyle (Melissa) of Willmar, 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother, Robert (Angela) Augustin of Leavenworth, sister-in-laws, Rita Augustin, Bernice Augustin, Lorna Mangen, Donna Augustin and Mary Steffl. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Delrose Moldan, brothers, Urban, Joseph, Leo, Russell and Ethelbert Augustin, and great-grandson, Aaron Mangen.
