Sylvia Augustin

Sylvia Katherine Augustin was born on November 13, 1922 in Leavenworth Township, MN to Henry and Bertha (Haala) Helget. She attended country school and St. Mary's Catholic School. She worked at home until she married Donald J. Augustin on June 5, 1945 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, CCW, Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid, officer in the Holy Family Association for 28 years and taught CCD. Sylvia was a eucharistic minister for many years and received the Bishop's Medal of Service and Community Award. She enjoyed painting barns, mowing lawn, sewing, crafts, dancing, taking grandchildren shopping, school sports events, people contact at butcher shop and worked for Dr. Rubey's dental office, assisting in office cleaning. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Rodney) Newman of Bloomington, daughters-in-law, Judy Augustin of Comfrey and Phyllis Augustin of Springfield, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister, Mildred (Francis) Pat Augustin of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald in 2000, son, Wayne in 2001, son, Kevin in 2008, granddaughter, Sara in 2008, brother, Melvin Helget and sisters, Roseal Helget and Delrose Chadderdon.
