Susan "Sue" LaRae (Schleininger) Uhde was born August 12, 1953 in Baraboo, WI, and was raised by her grandmother, Esther (Fowler) Schleininger. She grew up in the Fairmont area and was a graduate of Fairmont High School before obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Sue worked for Watonwan County for many years in child protection and additional roles and retired from there in 2020. She was a dedicated social worker who made a difference in countless lives of children and families over the years. She was a member of the Minnesota Social Services Association from 1989 until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bingo at the county fair, camping all summer at the Madelia campground, making new friends with neighboring campers, and especially loved helping with Madelia Park Days planning and giving golf cart rides to Park Days attendees. She loved spending time with her family and friends and hosting grill-outs at her camper. Very detailed plan making for the next big event, with multiple lists to check off, kept her busy. She loved preparing for holidays with the kids and hosted yearly Easter egg dyeing, pumpkin carving, pepperoni bread Thanksgiving, and a favorite of the family - full stockings for everyone for Christmas. She was a proud Blackhawk Nana and loved supporting all of her grandchildren and their teammates by cheering loudly at all of their sporting events, especially their football games.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Alison (Fermin) Gonzalez of Lewisville; son, Steve (Stacy) Uhde of Madelia; granchildren, Robert (Jazmin) Uhde, Tabitha (David) Diaz, Dain Uhde, Cole Uhde, Jake Uhde; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; sisters-in-law, Carol (Greg) Russ, Linda Uhde; brother-in-law, Darwin Westberg; sisters, Fran Fenske and Joyce Tow; and many loving and supportive coworkers and friends.
