Steven Patrick Klinkner was born on May 6, 1951, to Francis and Evelyn (Batterson) Klinkner in St. James, MN. Steve made his lifelong home in Madelia, graduating from Madelia High School in 1969. After graduation, Steve joined the United States Army National Guard, serving his country for six years before being Honorably Discharged in 1975. Steve married Donna Depuydt on August 25, 1972, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Their family of four was the building block of his life. They were blessed with eight grandchildren that Grandpa referred to as his monkeys. His barrel was full when they were around. Over the years, Steve shared his talents with many local farmers by assisting them with their daily activities. He especially enjoyed working with livestock and anything that had to do with the planting/harvesting of crops. He proudly delivered LP Fuel for LaSalle Farmers Grain, taking pride in knowing his customer's individual needs. In his later years he was self-employed, again taking pride in refinishing furniture for his valued customers.Steve took pride volunteering in his community. He served on the Watonwan County Fair Board, St. Mary's School Board, Madelia Chamber Board, and many positions in the American Legion including Madelia Post 19 Commander, Second District Commander, and Minnesota Department Chaplain andVice Commander. Steve enjoyed dancing with Donna; auctions with his brother-in-law; card games with the grandchildren and fun times with family and friends. His unique sense of humor will be missed by those that have experienced it. Steven Klinkner age 67, of Madelia, MN died on October 21, 2018 at his home.
