Stephanie Dawn Espeland

Stephanie Dawn Espeland was born to Dawn (Hanson) Willner on January 4th, 1976 in Mankato, MN. Due to the challenges of Stephanie's special needs, she came to live with Carol and Gerald Flitter at the age of 6. She grew up in rural Madelia on the Flitter farm. Stephanie attended school in Madelia and St. James, graduating from St. James High School. After graduating, she moved to Mankato and worked at MRCI. She enjoyed visiting on the phone with friends and family, she also enjoyed watching sports; cheering on the Minnesota Vikings; loved animals (especially cats), and collected many stuffed animals. Stephanie had many friends from both Madelia and St. James and was a very friendly, social person. She looked forward to eating out at Bakers Square when loved ones would come for a visit. Stephanie Dawn Espeland, age 45, of Mankato, MN, formerly of Madelia, MN, died on November 5, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. Stephanie is survived by her mother, Dawn (Doug) Willner; brother, Adam Willner; sisters, Jeannie (Brad) Wilkins, Angie (Jeff) Martin, Andrea (Dan) Klous; foster mother, Carol Flitter; foster siblings, Tim (Priscilla) Flitter, Beth (Marc) Good, Lynn (Todd) Speckman, and Lucas Flitter. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wanda and Ernie Kallestad, Ruth and Oscar Hanson, and her foster father, Gerald Flitter.
