Stella Rathman

Stella Catherine was born on June 6, 1911 in Springfield, MN, the daughter of Michael, Sr. Elizabeth (Roiger) Sturm. She grew up and attended school in Springfield. Stella married Norbert Rathman on February 7, 1934 in Springfield, MN. Stella and Norbert farmed from 1934 until 1965 ten miles east of Comfrey and then moved to Sleepy Eye. She worked nights at Divine Providence for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Stella enjoyed quilting, cards, fishing and baking for herfamily. Family get togethers were her favorite times. Survivors include her children; Aleda Mathiowetz of St. Paul, James wife Rosemary Rathman of Comfrey, Mary Meyer of Sleepy Eye, Richard wife Betty Rathman of Albert Lea, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, sister, Emelia Hammerschmidt of Villa Maria in Sleepy Eye, sisters-in-law, Eleanor Rose Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Agnes McLendon of Texas and Tena Rathman of Olivia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norbert, sisters; Elizabeth Hammerschmidt Kenservik, Adela Helget Klucas,Jeanette Forster, Theresa Tauer, brother, Michael Sturm II, son, Daniel Michael Rathman, grandchildren; Ann Mathiowetz, Lisa Rathman, Paul Cheryl Rhodes and Jason Meyer.
