Stanley Carlson

Stanley Stan Carlson was born December 8, 1929 in Adrian Twsp, Watonwan County, Minnesota to parents John Seldon and Edith Josephine (Holmquist) Carlson. Stan was baptized at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church on January 1, 1930 and confirmed in 1943.. He attended rural school near Sveadahl and helped out on the family farm when growing up. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. On November 2, 1957 Stan married the love of his life, Arlene Westphal, at St. John's Lutheran in St. Clair. Stan farmed with his father until his death in 1963. Stanley then went to work for the LaSalle Farmers Grain where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Stan loved to hunt and fish he also enjoyed mowing lawns, working on small engines and tinkering with old tractors. Stan looked forward to spending time with family, his brother Richard, friends at LaSalle Farmers Grain, Village Inn, and his breakfast buddies at Superfair. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Watonwan Co. Pheasants, Phesants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Deer Hunters Assoc., National Wild Turkey Foundation, and Watonwan Game Fish. He also served on the church council at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church. Stanley passed away at his home on March 7, 2007 at the age of 77 years. Stan is survived by his children, Darrell (Kathy) Carlson of St. James, Darwin (Sabrina) Carlson of Madelia, June Carlson of Jackson, brother, Richard (Janice) Carlson of St. James, grandchildren, Jerad Carlson, Kyle Carlson, Katie Carlson, Samantha Carlson, Jesse Carlson, Brittany Carlson, Jolene Rethwill, Matt Rethwill, Kasey Rethwill, great- grandchildren, Jordan, Jasmine, Miranda, Heaven and Zachary. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents,and brother Luverne.
