Shirley Kaehler

May 23, 1940 — August 2, 2014

Shirley Louise Gladis was born May 23, 1940, near Ivanhoe, MN, the daughter of John and Clara (Wilking) Gladis. Shirley grew up on the family farm near Ivanhoe and later in Marshall where she attended school. On June 23, 1962, Shirley was united in marriage to Sherwood Kaehler in Marshall. The couple made their home in Petaluma, CA, and Marshall, MN, before moving to Butterfield in 1974. Shirley was a home maker and mom, and worked numerous part time jobs over the years. She worked for many years at Fleet Farm in St. James. Shirley was a very soft spoken, kind-hearted, simple, loving and helpful person. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved baking, quilting, sewing, gardening and listening to old music like Elvis Presley, Don't be Cruel, was her favorite. Shirley loved her family, and always made sure that everyone was well fed. A little known fact about Shirley was she loved to play the Accordion. She could listen to a song and play it back on her Accordion. She was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. Shirley is survived by her children, Todd Jana Kaehler of Butterfield, Jason Julie Kaehler of St. James, Chad Kaehler of Lake Crystal, her mother, Clara Anderson of Marshall, 4 grandchildren, Haley, Cody, Corbin, Josh, siblings, Marlys Ed Marczak of Marshall, Curt Anderson of Washington, DC, Cheryl James Bernardy of Ankeny, IA, Dennis Gladis of Minneapolis, in-laws, Marlis Gladis of Amiret, and Curt Lemcke. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood, father, John, step-father, Eugene Anderson, brother, Jerry Gladis and sister, Sonya Lemcke. Parents in law: Alfred and Amelia Kaehler, Sister in laws: Laurie Kaehler, Janice Kaehler, and Ada Mae Sprouls, Brother in laws, G.A Kaehler, Lew Zentner and Thilfred Kaehler.
