Sherry Johnson

Sharon (Sherry) Lee Johnson, 80, of St. James, Minnesota passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on May 5, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, May 10, 2021 at First Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Andy Hermodson-Olsen and Rev. Matthew Seegert officiating. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 11:00am until service time. Covid 19 protocols will be followed. Sherry was born in Windom, Minnesota to Gordy and Helen Hanefeld on March 17, 1941. She graduated from Windom High School in 1959 and married the love of her life, Myron Johnson, on August 6, 1960. She embraced her role as a Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, and friend. Throughout her life, Sherry had a passion for decorating, shopping, and all things social, especially entertaining family and friends. She was an active participant in the St James community and a contributing member of First Lutheran Church. Sherry's brightest days were often spent in Okoboji, a place that captured her heart in childhood and remained a special destination for her and her family through the years. Sherry is survived by her two children: Pamela (Johnson) and Joel Wacholz of North Mankato, Mark and Kimberly Johnson of Madelia; five grandchildren: Jamie (Wacholz) and Chris Kollen, Jessica Wacholz, Amber Johnson, Kaelyn Johnson, Maxwell Johnson; two great grandchildren: Ainsley and Emerson. Also surviving is her brother, Douglas Hanefeld of Vancouver, Washington and sister-in-law, Carol Ihrke of Blair, Nebraska. Sherry was greeted by her spouse, Myron, who was waiting for her in heaven along with her parents; her sister-in-law, Sheryl Hanefeld; and her brother-in-laws, Dean Johnson and Gene Ihrke.
