Selma Hageman

Selma Bertha Hageman was born February 21, 1914 the daughter of John and Bertha (Hardtke) Gatzlaff in Stately Township. She attended country school district 61 and Springfield Public Schools. On May 4, 1939 Selma was united in marriage to Lester Hageman at Christ Lutheran Church in Stately Township. The couple farmed in Stately Township until retiring and moving to Springfield in 1975. She was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was the church organist and was a current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was involved in the West Stately Extension Club, Christ Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, Rebekka Circle and WELCA at St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. John Lutheran Home Auxiliary and Springfield Hospital Auxiliary. Selma enjoyed embroidering, counting cross stitch, gardening, sewing for missions and caring for the family. Selma was survived by her children - Margaret and husband Leonard (Skip) Berberich of Comfrey, Karen and husband Jerry Stanley of Shawnee, KS, Karol Schachtele of Burnsville, MN; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren -Tammy (Jimmy) Jones and their daughter - Cacey of Andover, MN, Timothy (Lynne) Berberich and their daughters - Amanda, Shayna and Sarah of Sioux Falls, SD, Thomas (Michele) Berberich and their sons - Brett and Jason of Morgan, MN, Scott (Jaime) Stanley of S. St. Paul, MN, Jennifer (Alan) Singer and their twins -Felix and Annabelle of Whitefish Bay WI, Jonathan (Kimberly) Schachtele and their children - Connor, Camille, and Caryle of Farmington, MN; twin brother - Norman Gatzlaff of Springfield and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband - Lester in December of 2000; brothers - Herbert, Ervin and August; sisters - Elsie Tadewald and a sister in infancy; and grandson Tracy Berberich.
