Sara E Wiebe, the daughter of Henry B and Elizabeth (Fast) Wiebe was born on August 11, 1916 at Delft, MN. She received her education at a country school near her home and graduated from the Bingham Lake High School. On June 5, 1938 Sara was baptized upon confession of her faith at the Bergfelder Church near Mountain Lake, and in 1942 she became a member of the Immanuel Mennonite Church in Delft. Sara was united in marriage to Abram W Nickel on March 26, 1940 at her parents' home. Sara and Abram made their home near Delft where she helped with the farming and the laying hens. She was on the girls basketball team in school and enjoyed attending and watching basketball games. She quilted and did handwork, enjoyed cooking and baking, traveling, gardening, family gatherings and family history. Abram died on November 1, 1985, and shortly after Sara moved into Mountain Lake. Sara died at the age of 92 years on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake. Sara is survived by two daughters, Lorna Wiens and husband Melvin of Staples, MN, and LaVera Fenton and husband Gary of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Hilda Friesen of Mountain Lake, Edna McLean of CA, and Verna Rahn of Mountain Lake; two brothers, Leo Wiebe, and LeRoy Wiebe and wife Pauline, all of Bingham Lake, MN; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Marion Nickel; and two brothers, Arthur and Harold Wiebe. Memorials will be designated to Immanuel Mennonite Church and Mountain Lake Christian School.
