Sandra Windschitl

Sandra Kay (Amsden) Windschitl was born on May 30, 1942, to Charles and Pearl (Giese) Amsden in Bashaw Township, Brown County, MN. She attended Comfrey Public Schools. On April 25, 1959, Sandy was united in marriage to Alfred Windschitl at Japanese Martyrs Catholic Church in Leavenworth, MN. The couple resided in Sleepy Eye for 6 years and she worked for Pietrus and Del Monte. After moving to Springfield, Sandy worked at Rock Street Bar and then was the cook at Springfield Public School. She enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, camping, sitting around the bonfire, and watching her kids and husband play sports. Time with her family and grandchildren were cherished as well as the time with her dog Kiki. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. Sandy died on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, MN, at the age of 79. She is survived by her children - Terry of Springfield, Dale (Gina) of Sleepy Eye, Kim (Dan) Zabielski of Grand Rapids, MI, Todd (Diana) of Springfield; grandchildren - Jacob and Cordell (Kally) Windschitl, Kaylie and Alex Windschitl, Kevin (Brandy), Mitchell (Angela), and Eric Zabielski; 5 great grandchildren; sister - Beverly Menton; and sister-in-law Ella Mae Amsden. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents - Charles and Pearl Amsden; husband Alfred in 2009; siblings - Irene (Tom) Hornick, Leslie (Neola) Amsden, Donna Block, Faye Amsden; and brother-in-law Wayne Menton.
