Sally Marguerite Carlson was born on January 26, 1934 to Clifford and Esther(Swenson) Patterson in Hibbing, MN . She attended Hibbing Public Schools graduating in 1952. Sally attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in Journalism in 1956. It was there she met her husband, John "Jack" Carlson and the two were married July 7, 1956. The couple moved to Springfield and Jack joined the family business, Carlson Brothers Construction. Sally was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church where she started the church library, taught Sunday School and belonged to the Tuesday morning Bible Study group for over 30 years. Using her journalism degree, Sally served on the committee that published the Springfield History book, "Town on the Prairie". Sally also served on the Springfield Public Library board, many of those years as President and oversaw the building of the "new" library in 1992. She designed and implemented the painting of the fire hall mural and was a member of several bridge clubs over the years. Sally and Jack were charter members of the Springfield Golf Club and enjoyed many golf outings with their many friends. Sally enjoyed reading, walking, jigsaw puzzles, and vacationing with family. In 1994 Sally was given the "gift of life" receiving a life- saving liver transplant which allowed Sally a very special 20 additional years to be with her family and friends. Sally will also be remembered for her many acts of kindness by the many cards she sent to family and friends on special occasions. She will be missed greatly. Sally is survived by her daughter-Debra (Clayton) Beyer of Springfield, son-Jeffrey (Lynette) Carlson of Springfield, and daughter-Carrie (Butch) Trebesch of Prior Lake; grandchildren-Kelly Meyer, Ramsey Beyer, Ryan Beyer, Joshua Carlson, Tony Carlson and Chelsea Konowski, Emily, Mitchell and Hannah Johnson, Liz Kes and Katie Gustafson. Great-grandchildren-Brynne, Braxtyn and Jameson Meyer, Kendall and Kylie Beyer, Quinton O'Connor, Mason and Cole Kes and Cooper Gustafson; and sister-in-law Carol Carlson of Springfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack, in 2003; brother- in- law James Carlson and mother and father in- law; Nixie and E.W. Carlson.
