Ruth Ada Schneider

Ruth Ada Schneider was born to Ole and Anna (Myers) Kaale on March 23, 1918 in Lamberton, MN. Her birth was recorded in the Cradle Roll at the Lamberton Methodist Church. She attended the Lamberton Public School and graduated in 1936. She played the violin in the school orchestra and also played the saxophone and piano. She continued playing the piano her entire life. She also sang in the Lamberton High School Glee Club. She married Frank J. Schneider of Springfield on September 15, 1937 at her parents' home in Lamberton. She was baptized and made her First Communion in St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield and remained an active member of that parish. Ruth managed a sewing business from her home for many years and created many wedding gowns and other garments. She designed and hand quilted many embroidered and appliquéd quilts for her family and made many crocheted doilies. She also volunteered with St. Raphael's Church ladies as leader of their craft division. She received the Bishop's Medal for service to her church and community in 2002. She enjoyed a trip to Norway, Sweden and Denmark with her sisters and brother-in-law and also took a Caribbean cruise with them. She celebrated her 100th birthday in March of 2018 with a party at the Community Center in Springfield with family and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Marjorie (Alfred) Eichten of Mankato, Judith (Neil) Gehrt of Cottage Grove, and Karen (Terry) Fredin of Windom; grandchildren, Terry (Cathy) Eichten of Mantorville, Scott (Tracey) Eichten of St. Louis Park, Vicki Eichten Harder of St. Peter, Jon Eichten of Harlingen, TX, Julie (Gregg) Gramse of Scandia, Sheila (Kevin) Dubs of Marshall, Kathy Mollers of Rosemount, Kristen (Gary) Vipond of Battle Lake, and Bill (Dawn) Fredin of Windom; great grandchildren, Daniel (Amber) Eichten, Amy (Eichten) Badzinski, Jeremy Eichten, Erin Eichten, Brittany Eichten, Katie McMurlyn, Benjamin Eichten, Nathan Eichten, Bronson Kittleson, McKayla Kittleson, Abby Dubs, Brady Dubs, James Anderson, Devin Mollers, Ashley Mollers, Jennifer Vipond, Stephanie Vipond, Christian (Catelyn) Schuck, and Madyson Fredin; great-great grandchildren, Abel Cadwell, Miles Eichten, Lettie Eichten, Delilah Myers, and Flora Badzinski; plus many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Ole and Anna Kaale; her brother, John Ross (Melba) Kaale; sisters, Dorothy (Ben) Peterson and Gladys (Darold) Krinke; grandson, Michael Gehrt; mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Katherine Schneider; brothers-in-law, Wenzel, Anthony, and Joseph Schneider; sisters-in-law, Catherine, Irene, and Mary Schneider, and Margaret (Wesley) Grundmeyer.
