Ruth Hanson

Ruth Marie Anderson was born January 1, 1922 on the family farm in Riverdale Township of Watonwan Co. to parents Alfred Ellen (Lundstrom) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. Her mother died when she was just 7 years old. Ruth worked at the St. James Hospital before she married Luverne Hanson on November 22, 1945. The couple farmed near Good Thunder for 10 years before moving to Odin where they farmed for 10 years. They then moved into Butterfield in November 1964 where Ruth did day care. She went to work at Butterfield Foods in 1970 where she worked until her retirement in 1987. Ruth enjoyed traveling with her sister after the death of Luverne in 1977. Ruth enjoyed doing embroidery, collecting bells and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ruth was also active with the ladies group at church and the senior dining program. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve Lynn Hanson of Mankato, daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Charlie Lind of North Mankato, Shirley Harry Schuur of Windom, Linda Mark Nelson of Roseville, Diane Troy DeLeon of Fargo, ND, a brother, Ray Helen Anderson of Lake Crystal, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son Larry, sister Dorothy Haugen, parents and step-mother Anna Anderson.
