Ruby Pankratz passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society-The Village in Mountain Lake. Ruby Amelia Ewy was born on the family farm, near Butterfield, MN, on July 9, 1921, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Weide) Ewy. In 1942, she was united in marriage to Jacob Pankratz at the family home. Ruby always was a farm woman. When young she, as a hard working woman, made shocks by hand and worked on their farm with horses. In her married years she always had a large garden, fed and collected eggs from hundreds of chickens. She canned, butchered chickens, made homemade sausage, while raising eight children. She experienced flying in jet planes, having traveled to Germany and Hawaii. She was skilled at sewing clothes for the family and enjoyed embroidering pillowcases and table cloths. In her retirement years you would find her weaving rugs from rags at the senior center. Ruby found joy in spending time with her parents and sisters and more recently with her children and grandchildren. She loved being with family. She loved to tease and had a twinkle in her eye. She is survived by her children; Bernice (Gerald) Goertzen of Homerville, OH, Ed (Sue) Pankratz of Mankato, Maxine McDonald of Hartford, SD, Harry Pankratz of Mt. Lake, Marge Pankratz of Mt.
